Daily Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 8/22/14

Today is 8/22, the day of Wood Ox in the month of Water Monkey, a generally harmonious combination that encourages building. It brings out Primary Resources deity who encourages activities along the lines of nourishing, caring, supporting, teaching, philanthropy, nursing, research, publishing, metaphysics, and art. Ox, Snake, and Rooster are in greatest harmony, and have the Star of Arts. Artists of these three signs are favored today. The day also gives an energetic boost to Ox, Tiger, and Rabbit. It is a peak day for Tiger. The day holds love and pleasure for Snake; opportunities for growth and development for Horse; and a chance of financial gains for Dog.
The hexagram for today, using the King Wen method is number 27, line 4.

Hexagram 27 is Corners of the Mouth, or Jaws. It is concerned with what nourishes us, whether food or words. It advises doing good, and keeping far from evil. Pay attention to providing nourishment.

Line 4 encourages acting like a hungry tiger, on the lookout for nourishment, and being willing to share it. The zodiac sign for line 4 is Dog. Dog is somewhat supported by the signs of line 5, the changing line, those being Rat and Snake. Dog is then punished by the sign of the day, Ox, but is in harmony with the sign of the month, Monkey. It means that earlier difficulties will give way to ease. It is altogether advantageous to act in a supportive way and to give. The Wood of Wood Ox gives a snake to line 4. It advises looking beneath the surface of things; there is something hidden that may call for your attention.

The elements of the hexagram are Wood, Wood, and Earth. Make sure your foundation is strong. All in all, it says, be cautious when caring for others.
