Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 10/1/17

10/1 is the day of Metal Rooster in the lunar month of Earth Rooster. This is a harmonious combination. It favors independence.
The day is designated as inauspicious and establishing.  The Qi of the 5 elements is weak; avoid doing anything major today.
On an establish day, the emperor would pray for good harvests. The day is good for visiting friends to discuss plans.
The lunar mansion is Fang, House. It is good for long distance travel and prayers, but bad for investing and visiting the tailor to order a new set of clothes.
If you were born in a year or day of Monkey, Rat, or Dragon, this day is good for romance.
If you were born in a year or day of Snake, Rooster, or Ox, this day is good for work.
Rooster, the sign of the day, is in harmony with Ox, Snake, Monkey, and Dragon; neutral with Pig, Rat, Tiger, Horse, and Sheep; clashes with Rabbit and Rooster; and is ambivalent with Dog.
The I Ching hexagram for this day, using the King Wen method, is number 23, line 5.

Hexagram 23 is Bao, Peeling. It is not advantageous to move in any direction.

Line 5 A school of fish. Favor of the court ladies; everything is good. The zodiac sign of line 5 is Rat. By the element of the season, Rat is strong. By the element of the hexagram, Rat signifies creative or business plans. Rat is in harmony with the signs of changing line, 1, and is neutral with the sign of the day and month. The sequence of elements show that prospects for gain are good. The Metal of Metal Rooster day puts an earthworm in line 5. Progress may be slow due to an obstacle.
