Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 12/30/16

12/30 is the day of Fire Dog in the lunar month of Metal Ox. This is a harmonious combination. It favors competition and expression of talent.
This is a dire and open day. It is an empty day, good only for insignificant activities.
An open day is good for opening your home and welcoming in guests.
The lunar mansion is Niu, Ox. This is a useless star.
If you were born in a year or day of Tiger, Horse, or Dog, this is a fair day for creative work.
Dog, the sign for this day, is in harmony with Dog, Tiger, Horse, Monkey, and Rabbit; neutral toward Pig, Rat, and Snake; clashes with Ox, Dragon, and Sheep; and is ambivalent toward Rooster.
The I Ching hexagram, using the King Wen method, is number 23, line 5.

Hexagram 23 is Bao, Splitting Apart. Not a time to go anywhere.

Line 5 a school of fishes. Favor comes from the court ladies. Everything good. The zodiac sign of line 5 is Rat. By the element of the season, Rat is strong. By the element of the hexagram, Rat signifies creative interests. Rat is neutral and clashes with the signs of changing lines, 3 and 6, neutral with the sign of the day and in harmony with the sign of the month. Earth dams Water. Great effort to gain reward. The Fire of Fire Dog day puts a tortoise in line 5. Tortoise is a sign of privacy, and warns of theft.
