Chinese 9 Star year predictions for 2017

The Chinese 9 Star year begins today, February 3. It always begins at spring in the Chinese calendar, or 15 degrees Aquarius, mid-point between the winter solstice and spring equinox.

To find your Chinese 9 star number, take your birth year. If you were born in between January 1st and February 4th, calculate from the year prior to your birth to find your 9 Star year. Meaning, if you were born on January 15, 1960, use 1959 as your starting point.

The years are different for males and females. Note that they are mirrors of one another.

If you were born in 1991 and are male, your year star is 9, if female your year star is 6.
If you were born in 1992 and are male, your year star is 8, if female your year star is 7.
If you were born in 1993 and are male your year star is 7, if female your year star is 8.
If you were born in 1994 and are male your year star is 6, if female your year star is 9.
If you were born in 1995 and are male your year star is 5, if female your year star is 1.
If you were born in 1996 and are male your year star is 4, if female your year star is 2.
If you were born in 1997 and are male your year star is 3, if female your year star is 3.
If you were born in 1998 and are male your year star is 2, if female your year star is 4.
If you were born in 1999 and are male your year star is 1, if female your year star is 5.

Add or subtract 9 or multiples of 9 to arrive at your birth year.

Or else, if you were born in the 20th century, take the 2 last digits of the year of your birth, add them up until you arrive at a single digit (from 1 to 9), then subtract that number from 10 to get the male number. Refer to the chart above to get the female number.
For births in the 21st century, add up the entire year and subtract from 11. For example, take the year 2000. 2000 = 2. 11 - 2 = 9. The male number is 9, the female number is 6.
2017 = 10 or 1. 11 - 1 = 10 or 1. 2017 is a 1 year.

The corresponding elements, qualities, and colors of these numbers are as follows
1 = Water, yin, white
2 = Earth, yin, black
3 = Wood, yang, jade green
4 = Wood, yin, dark green
5 = Earth, yin/yang, yellow
6 = Metal, yang, white
7 = Metal, yin, red
8 = Earth, yang, white
9 = Fire, yang, purple

These 9 stars follow one another around a magic square, the same as the magic square of Saturn. The positions in space are as follows: north is at the bottom, south is at the top, east is to the left, and west is to the right.
1 Water star is in the center in 2017.
2 Earth star is in the northwest in 2017.
3 Wood star is in the west in 2017.
4 Wood star is in the northeast in 2017.
5 Earth star is in the south in 2017.
6 Metal star is in the north in 2017.
7 Metal star is in the southwest in 2017.
8 Earth star is in the east in 2017.
9 Fire star is in the southwest in 2017.

The predictions are as follows.

1 Water is at the center. The center is a pivotal house. Affairs can take dramatic turns for the better or worse. A relationship can reach the crisis point. The nature of the center is Earth. Earth blocks Water. It over powers Water. The best way for Water this year is to find the path of least resistance unless you want to run into confrontations. It will either be a peaceful year or one vexed with trouble.

2 Earth is in the northwest. The northwest is a fortunate house, ruled by Metal. For 2 Earth it can mean a very creative, productive year ahead. The northwest is on the signs Pig and Dog. Pig and Dog this year have the meanings "funeral door" and "the sun," respectively. For 2 Earth, it is very meaningful to cultivate brightness, and not let depression take over this year. It's a choice.

3 Wood is in the west. The west is a sign of romance, ease, wine, song. And it is the house of the Grand Duke of the year, in the sign of Rooster. This is a very fortunate place to be this year. Good for a love affair, Take full advantage of it. But remember, what pleasures it affords are illusory and can leave you all the poorer in the end if you waste your time and squander your energies. 3 Wood has a natural affinity to the west house. So the Metal of this house will not harm Wood. This year will be very good for creative imaginative work.

4 Wood is in the northeast. The northeast is a place of barriers. It is a place of adventure, money, banks, and education. For 4 Wood this is interesting, and means gaining knowledge. It is a house ruled by Earth, so 4 Wood in it, will do well to concentrate on gaining money this year. The northeast is on Ox and Tiger. This year Ox has the meaning "5 ghosts," and Tiger has the meaning "death charm, and robbery shar." For the northeast house, of the nature of a mountain, this has interesting meanings. It is full of shadows. It would be very good to have fengshui done to ward off any adverse influences from your home this year. It would also be good to make sure your money is safe, and stay away from the dead. 4 Wood is not strong in this house.

5 Earth is in the south. This is the house of lightning. You could receive sudden notoriety for work you have been doing. A sudden meeting with someone you didn't previously know could dramatically change your life for the better. It could be a sudden new love. If there was trouble brewing, it will probably come up this year, however. But, all in all the south house is happy and spells success. This house is on the sign Horse, and has the meaning "fortune virtue" for the year. Business and creative plans will bear fruit.

6 Metal is in the north. The north house is the abyss. For 6 Metal this could be productive, as the element of this house is Water and Metal is productive of Water, all the more so if you know where you are going. All the more so especially if you are an artist, because of the imagined meanings this house gives you. The house has the sign of wheels, as in a car. Once in it, you are stuck for the ride. If you like where it is taking you, fine, but, if not, you will have to endure for one year, and it could take you places you didn't want to go, especially since 6 Metal is in opposition with the star of destruction. Be very careful of accidents, and conflicts which could come up. The best would be to yield peacefully, and be alert. But, the north house is in the place of Rat and has the meaning "moon" this year. Your perceptions will be vague at times and prone to error.

7 Metal is in the southwest. The southwest is the valley. It is Earth. You can expect one good thing to lead to another. Progress may be slow but with steady improvement. 7 Metal is very productive in this house. Work and money will go well. This house is on the signs Monkey and Sheep. These signs have the meanings "sickness charm" and "sky dog," respectively. Your health should be good, if not, take care. Sky dog is a great protector.

8 Earth is in the east. The east is the house of thunder, and opposite the Grand Duke, a very difficult place to be. The house of thunder can bring unexpected upsets. You have to maintain calm. Watch your health. 8 Earth is not happy in this house. The house has power to disrupt 8 Earth. Because it is opposite the Grand Duke, it must show humility. East house is in the sign Rabbit, with the meanings "year breaker" and "calamity shar." This would be good year to do fengshui on your house to mitigate any possible cause of misfortune.  This year does suggest a dramatic change coming.

9 Fire is in the southeast. The southeast is the house of the wind. Lots of changes happen. Lots of opportunities, and distractions. The southeast is in harmony with 9 Fire star. It feeds the 9 Fire, so your vitality and power will increase this year. The southeast house is on the signs Dragon and Snake. Dragon and Snake have the meanings "dragon virtue" and "white tiger." respectively. Dragon virtue is on the year shar. It favors direct, focused action. Know what you want to accomplish and do it. Too much flexibility, or distractions, will weaken you and waste your time.

The signs on the northeast, east, and southeast have the 3 shars. It is not a good place to put the bed this year.
