Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 12/21/17

12/21 is the day of Water Rat in the lunar month of Metal Pig. This is winter solstice. This combination is harmonious.
This day is designated as inauspicious and establishing. Although things may appear initially good, they can come to a disastrous outcome. This is a bad day for all major undertakings.
An establish day is good for visiting friends and discussing business and marriage plans.
The lunar mansion is Jiao, Horn. It promises increasing wealth.
If you were born in a year or day of Pig, Rabbit, or Sheep, this day is good for romantic affairs and for the expression of your talents.
If you were born in a year or day of Monkey, Rat, or Dragon, this day is good for taking command and making progress with you work.
The I Ching hexagram for this day, using the King Wen method, is number 33, line 2.

Hexagram 33 is Tun, Withdrawal. Persistence in small matters is advantageous.

Line 2 He holds fast with thongs of yellow oxhide which cannot be parted. The zodiac sign of line 2 is Horse. By the element of the season, Horse is weak. By the element of the hexagram, Horse signifies power. Horse is neutral with the signs of changing line, 1, clashes with the sign of the day, and is neutral with the sign of the month. The sequence of elements points to a good change of fortune. The Water of Water Rat day puts a dragon in line 2. The dragon looks forward with optimism.
