Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 5/1/16

5/1 is the day of Water Sheep in the month of Water Dragon. This is a harmonious combination. Water Sheep is highly intelligent; it warns against getting upset and making unnecessary trouble in a personal relationship. This combination favors diligence and careful management.
The day generally favors planning, divination, seeking guidance of superiors, distant travel, retreat, and solitude.
The day does not generally favor starting new ventures, family gatherings, ceremonies, signing contracts, construction, and gardening.
Sheep is the Star of Arts for Pig, Rabbit, and Sheep. If you were born in a year or day of one of these three signs, this is a good day for artistic work.
Sheep favors Sheep, Pig, Rabbit, Horse, and Snake; is neutral toward Monkey, Rooster, Tiger, and Dragon; clashes with Ox and Dog; and is ambivalent toward Rat.
The I Ching hexagram for this day, using the King Wen method, is number 39, line 4.

Hexagram 39 is Chien, Impediment. This is not a good time to stand out, but is okay for seeking harmony with others. This hexagram favors those born in the month of Rooster.

Line 4 says advancing leads to trouble, but coming back brings unity. The zodiac sign for line 4, Monkey, is void. Monkey is weak by the element of the season, but being void, its absence may be cause for concern. Monkey, by the element of the hexagram, signifies a familiar person, colleague, sibling, or some such. Void, it signifies someone absent, or non-cooperative. Monkey is neutral toward the signs of the day and month. No harm. The Water of Water Sheep day puts a worm in line 4. This shows an obstacle. It is best to let go, retreat, and enjoy solitude for the time being.
