Daily Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 11/17/14

11/17 is the day of Water Dragon in the month of Wood Pig. This is a harmonious combination. It favors people who are creative and entrepreneurial. Water Dragon promotes solitude, and can bring up problems in relationships, especially in marriage and with in-laws.
If you were born in a year or day of Monkey, Rat, or Dragon, this is a good day for creative, inventive, and artistic work.
If you were born in a year or day of Snake, Horse, or Sheep, this is a good day to work alone and to enjoy solitude.
If you were born in a year of Snake, Rooster, or Ox, this is not an auspicious day for important meetings or events. Wear something black and sit with your back to north to mitigate shar (bad luck).
Dragon gets along harmoniously with Monkey, Rat, Rooster, Tiger, and sometimes Rabbit; neutrally with Snake, Horse, Sheep. Pig, and Ox; and discordantly with Dragon, Dog, and sometimes Rabbit.
The I Ching hexagram for this day, using the King Wen method, is number 23, line 5.

Hexagram 23 is Splitting Apart. When it reaches its worst, it starts to improve. This is not a good time to go anywhere. This hexagram is bad in winter.

Line 5 shows a school of fishes. The yin forces are being guided by the yang force. This is favorable. It suggests cooperation. The astrological sign of line 5, Rat, is in harmony with the signs of changing lines, 1 and 6, and with the signs of the day and month, Dragon and Pig. The Water of Water Dragon puts a snake in line 5, however, warning of something strange and hidden. Pay attention to details.

The elements of this hexagram are Metal, Earth, and Earth. The foundations are strong. If you have accumulated merit you are secure.
