Daily Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 1/17/15

1/17 is the day of Water Snake in the month of Fire Rat. This is a discordant combination. It favors friendliness, independence, and making money. It can bring some trouble to relationships, especially marriage and with in-laws. But, it brings out the star Tien Yi, or Heaven Virtue, who resolves problems and brings luck. It also brings out a Nobleman Star who brings help. The lucky direction of this Nobleman Star is southeast. If you are traveling southeast today, it may bring you luck.
Snake is the Traveling Star for Pig, Rabbit, and Sheep. If you were born in a year or day of one of these three signs, this is an active day, favoring travel, making changes in your home or work environment, and/or making a positive move in your career.
1/17, 1/18, and 1/19 are not good days for people born in a year of Monkey, Rat, or Dragon to attend important meetings or events. Be alert to others trying to take unfair advantage of you. Wear something green to deflect shar (bad luck).
If you were born in a year of Tiger, Horse, or Dog this is a bad time to get into an argument.
Snake gets along well with Snake, Rooster, Ox, Horse, and Sheep; neutrally with Dog, Rat, Rabbit, and Dragon; and problematically with Monkey, Pig, and Tiger.
The I Ching hexagram of this day, according to the King Wen method, is number 1, line 6.

Hexagram 1 is Qian, Heaven, or The Creative. Heaven embraces all. It brings success, especially through persisting.

Line 6 warns against going too far. The zodiac sign for line 6, Dog, is in harmony with the signs of changing lines 1 and 4, and with the signs of the day and month. The Water of Water Snake day puts a tiger in line 6. If you play your cards right you can make a lot of money, if not, you may suffer a big loss.

The elements of this hexagram are Metal, Metal, and Metal. The power of Metal is strong. It signifies boundaries, the cutting edge, justice, and beauty. Success.
