Daily Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 1/5/15

1/5 is the day of Metal Snake in the month of Fire Rat. This is a tricky, unstable combination that can cause unexpected changes and reversals. Metal Snake has a sharp mind, and finds opportunities to make money. It can work for or against you. The combination of Metal Snake and Fire Rat brings out Academic Nobleman Star to turn adversity to advantage.
Snake is the Traveling Star for Pig, Rabbit, and Sheep. If you were born in year or day of one of these three signs this is an active day, good for traveling, changing your home or work place around, and making positive moves in your career.
1/5, 1/6, and 1/7 are not advantageous days for people born in years of Monkey, Rat, or Dragon for attending important meetings or events. Watch out for someone trying to take unfair advantage of you, or rob you. Wear something green to deflect shar (bad luck).
If you were born in a year or day of Tiger, Rabbit, or Dragon, this is a good day to rely on yourself, keep your own counsel, and enjoy solitude.
If you were born in a year of Tiger, Horse, or Dog this is a bad day for getting into arguments.
Snake gets along well with Snake, Rooster, Ox, Horse, and Sheep; neutrally with Dog, Rat, Rabbit, and Dragon; and poorly with Monkey, Pig, and Tiger.
The I Ching hexagram for this day, using the King Wen method, is number 24, line 1.

Hexagram 24 is Fu, Return. Return is successful. Friends come and go without blame. The way goes to and fro. It is good to have something to do. This hexagram is good in winter.

Line 1 advises that if mistakes were made, correcting them now is good. Self-discipline is favorable. The zodiac sign of line 1, Rat, is in harmony with the signs of changing line 6, as well as with the sign of the day and month. It attracts friends. The Metal of Metal Snake day puts a tiger in line 1. Beware of a false friend. The tiger is fierce.

The elements of this hexagram are Earth, Wood, and Earth. Wood is buried in earth. It needs time to grow and emerge.
