Daily Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 1/22/15

1/22 is the day of Earth Dog in the month of Fire Ox. This is a partly discordant combination. It favors those who are independent, competitive, and creative. Earth Dog is a commanding figure. It is ambitious and highly motivated. The combination of Earth Dog and Fire Ox brings out the star Tien Yi who resolves predicaments, gives good luck, and brings help when needed.
Dog is the Star of Arts for Tiger, Horse, and Dog. If you were born in a year or day of one of these three signs, this is a good day to pursue your creative, and artistic work.
Dog gets along well with Dog, Tiger, Horse, Rabbit, Monkey, and sometimes Rooster; neutrally with Pig, Rat, and Snake; and problematically with Ox, Dragon, Sheep, and sometimes Rooster.
The I Ching hexagram for this day is number 40, line 2.

Hexagram 40 is Jie, Delivering, or Easing. Returning to normal conditions is good. If there is no longer anything to do, returning brings good fortune. If there is still something to do, hastening brings good fortune. This hexagram is bad in winter.

Line 2 encourages self-mastery. Eliminate selfish, fearful impulses and the results will be good. The zodiac sign of line 2, Dragon, is in harmony with the signs of changing line 5, clashes with the sign of the day, and is in harmony with the sign of the month. The Earth of Earth Dog day puts a tiger in line 2. Act vigorously.

The elements of this hexagram are Wood, Water, and Wood. Water causes wood to flourish. Tremendous potential.
