Daily Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 1/7/15

1/7 is the day of Water Sheep in the month of Fire Rat. This is a partly discordant combination. It favors those who act independently, those who are optimistic, generous, who work hard to resolve problems, and make and save up money. It also warns of possible trouble in amorous affairs that could bring bad luck.
Sheep is the Star of Arts for Pig, Rabbit, and Sheep. If you were born in a year or day of one of these signs this is a good day for creative, artistic work.
Sheep gets along well with Sheep, Pig, Rabbit, Horse, Snake, and sometimes Rat; neutrally with Monkey, Rooster, Tiger, and Dragon; and with difficulty with Dog, Ox, and sometimes Rat.
The I Ching hexagram for this day, using the King Wen method, is number 16, line 1.

Hexagram 16 is Yu, Enthusiasm, or Joy. It is good to get helpers and set armies marching. This hexagram is bad in winter. It is hard to get agreement from all sides.

Line 1 advises being quiet. Boasting brings bad luck. The zodiac signs for line 1, Sheep and Rabbit, are in general harmony with the signs of changing lines 3, 4, and 5, and are in harmony with the sign for the day, and in discord with the sign for the month. The Water of Water Sheep day puts a tortoise in line 1. It advises keeping quiet and not pressing your luck. Be satisfied with whatever small gains you make today.

The elements of this hexagram are Wood, Earth, and Wood. Wood eats earth. If you are overwhelmed with problems, retreat and let them pass.
