Daily Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 12/27/14

12/27 is the day of Water Monkey in the month of Fire Rat. This is a discordant, tricky combination that can set up a chain of causes and conditions resulting in trouble. It favors those who are competitive.
Water Monkey with Fire Rat brings out the Knife Blade star. The Knife Blade character is eccentric, irritable, and reactive, and will cause rifts and fights. Water Monkey and Fire Rat also bring out the Star of Kindness to help modify the aggression, and bring help if needed.
Monkey is the Traveling Star for Tiger, Horse, and Dog. If you were born in a year or day of one of these three signs, this is an active day, good for traveling, fixing up the house or work place, and making positive moves in your career.
12/27, 12/28, and 12/29 are not good days for people born in years of Pig, Rabbit, or Sheep for attending important meetings or events. While it is good for you to be on the lookout for opportunities these days, beware of people trying to take unfair advantage of you.
If you were born in a year of Snake, Rooster, or Ox this is a good day for making plans, but a bad day for getting into a dispute.
Monkey gets along well with Monkey, Rat, Dragon, Rooster, and Dog; neutrally with Ox, Rabbit, Horse, and Sheep; and poorly with Pig, Tiger, and Snake.
The I Ching hexagram for this day, using the King Wen method, is number 59, line 5.

Hexagram 59 is Huan, Dispersion. Wind sweeps things away. Dispersion brings success. Boats sail. Time to cross the great water. The king approaches his temple. Time to persevere. This hexagram is good for winter.

Line 5 says it is good to make adjustments, and to let go of whatever is hampering you. The zodiac signs for line 5, Snake and Rat, are in a discordant relation with one another, a partially harmonious relation with the signs of changing lines 1 and 2, a discordant relation with the sign of the day, and a partially discordant relation with the sign for the month. The Water of Water Monkey day puts a snake in line 5. Proceed cautiously and pay attention to details. There may be something strange hidden. Be very careful if signing papers.

The elements of this hexagram are Fire, Water, and Wood. Wood is nourished. Eventual progress.
