Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 1/4/16

1/4 is the day of Wood Rooster in the month of Earth Rat. This partly discordant combination favors occult research, and psychic, astrological, metaphysical work, and work that does not require much contact with others. Best to keep a low profile and work things out inwardly.
Rooster is the Commanding Star for Snake, Rooster, and Ox. If you were born in a year or day of one of these three signs this is a good day to take charge and move ahead in your work.
Rooster generally favors Ox, Snake, Dragon, and Monkey; is neutral toward Pig, Rat, Tiger, Horse, and Sheep; clashes with Rooster and Rabbit; and is ambivalent toward Dog.
The I Ching hexagram for this day, using the King Wen method, is number 33, line 2.

Hexagram 33 is Tun, Withdrawal. Success in small things. Retreat quietly to avoid conflict. This hexagram is bad in winter.

Line 2 If it is not possible to withdraw, cooperate with the others without losing your composure. The zodiac sign of line 2, Horse, is weak by the season, and, by the hexagram, represents others making demands on you, and challenging you to take a stand. Horse clashes with the signs of changing lines, 1 and 3, and with the signs of the day and month. Stay calm. The Wood of Wood Rooster day puts a raven in line 2. Keep your own counsel and avoid arguments. The energy is discordant.
