Daily Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 10/16/14

10/16 is the day of Metal Monkey in the month of Wood Dog. This is a highly energetic, partly discordant combination that favors speculation, risk taking, invention, and creative thinking.
The entire period of Wood Dog, extending from 9/24 to 11/7 favors creative, artistic work for people born in a year or day of Tiger, Horse, or Dog.
The Metal of Metal Monkey interacts with Horse, the sign of this year, to make this a good day for travel in general. It is an active day.
Monkey is the Traveling Star for people born in a year or day of Tiger, Horse, or Dog. If you were born in one of these signs, this is a good day for advancement, traveling, fixing up the house, or making a positive move in your career.
The Metal of Metal Monkey day interacts with Dog, the zodiac sign of this month, to bring out Red Light Star, warning of potential turmoil in personal relationships, especially for people born in a year or day of Dog.
Monkey is the Star of Loneliness for Snake, Horse, and Sheep. For people born in a year of day of one of these signs, this is a good day for enjoying solitude.
For people born in a year of Pig, Rabbit, or Sheep this and the coming two days are not exactly lucky for important meetings. To mitigate the shar (bad luck) it helps to wear something black.
Monkey is in harmony with Monkey, Rat, Dragon, Rooster, and Dog, and is neutral with Sheep, Ox, and Horse, and in discord with Tiger, Snake, and Pig.
The I Ching hexagram for this day is number 52, line 6.

Hexagram 52 is the Mountain. It is a sign of calmness. This hexagram is not good in fall.

Line 6 is the height of calmness. The zodiac sign of line 6, Tiger, is in partial harmony with changing lines 1,2, and 3, in discord with the sign for the day, Monkey, and in harmony with the sign for the month, Dog. The Metal of Metal Monkey puts a snake in line 6. This says to be wary of hidden problems, be patient, and persevere. Success comes in the long run.

The elements of this hexagram are Earth, Earth, and Earth. Regard on the past, and the foundation.
