Daily Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 10/20/14

10/20 is the day of Wood Rat in the month of Wood Dog. This is a fairly harmonious combination that promotes wealth and good fortune, and favors independence, taking chances, and facing challenges positively. It also favors pleasure, especially for people born in the year or day of Rat.
Rat is the Flower of Romance Star for Pig, Rabbit, and Sheep. If you were born in the year or day of one of these three signs this is a good day for your romantic interests.
If you were born in a year or day of Monkey, Rat, or Dragon, this is a day to stand out and take the initiative. This is an especially good day for you if you are an independent entrepreneur.
10/20 and 10/21 are not the best days for planning important events or meetings for people born in a year of Tiger, Horse, or Dog. If you must, wear something green to mitigate the shar (bad luck) of the day.
Rat is harmonious with Rat, Dragon, Monkey, Ox, Pig, and sometimes Sheep, neutral with Tiger, Snake, Rooster, and Dog, and in disharmony with Rabbit, Horse, and sometimes Sheep.
The I Ching Hexagram for this day, using the King Wen method, is number 18, line 3.

Hexagram 18 is Decay, or Correcting. Success is possible. It is good to cross the great water. Three days before beginning; three days after beginning. If conditions have been are bad, make plans. An evil situation cannot last forever. Once you begin, keep a close watch on your progress.

Line 3 advises to analyze your mistakes, but not to make corrections too hastily. Many possibilities are open to you. It will help to work harder. The zodiac sign of line 3, Rooster is in harmony with the signs of changing line 1, and with the sign for the day, Rat, and is in partial harmony with the sign for the month, Dog. The Wood of Wood Rat puts a worm in line 3. Despite minor obstacles, progress is good. Get the obstacles out of the way.

The elements of this hexagram are Wood, Wood, and Earth. Too many pressures can hinder activity.
