Daily Chinese astrological I Ching reading: 10/5/14

10/5 is the day of Earth Rooster in the month of Wood Dog. Earth Rooster is called an Academic Nobleman Star. It favors hard work, gaining knowledge, and using talent and wit to turn problematic situations to advantage. On the other hand, if the person is arrogant and conceited, it can act to bring about the person's downfall.
Earth Rooster with Wood Dog is a strongly discordant combination that can cause unexpected reversals. It brings out competitiveness and practicality.
If you were born in a year or day of Monkey, Rat, or Dragon, this is a good day for romance, all things considered.
If you were born in a year or day of Snake, Rooster, or Ox, this is a good day for you to take charge and step forward with your plans, especially with respect to your career.
Rooster is in harmony with Ox, Snake, Dragon, Monkey, Pig, Rat, and Sheep, and in discord with Rooster, Rabbit, Dog, Tiger, and Horse.
The I Ching hexagram for this day, according to the King Wen method, is number 7, line 5.

Hexagram 7 is the Army. Good fortune comes with persistence and strong leadership. Without the benefit of experience and proper organization nothing can be accomplished. Good times come after struggles. This hexagram is good in spring, not in fall. It calls for finesse.

Line 5 says there is game in the field. It is good to catch it. Let the most experienced lead. If the inexperienced leads there will be misfortune. The zodiac sign for line 5, Pig, is in harmony with the sign for the day, Rooster, and in discord with the sign for the month, Dog. The Earth of Earth Rooster puts a raven in line 5, warning of a possible quarrel or scandal. If you enter into dealings which look enticing, without considering what it could mean in the long run, you might be setting yourself up for trouble. Consider everything.

The elements of this hexagram are Water, Water, and Earth. Earth dams up water. Great effort is required for gains.
